![Day 10
The Fresno flag signifies three major things that this city has to offer the world: machinery to reap and sow our crops underneath the bright and shiny sun. I think that this flag is so cool that Ira Glass had to borrow similar ideas for his TV show iteration of the popular radio show “This American Life.”
There is the logo for the TV show as seen on the Showtime Channel. I do think, myself, that this is a nod to our fair city’s fine looking flag. I first heard of this show in 2006 (both the radio and TV show) and the moment I saw the last pictogram to define “Life” [of “This American Life”] I thought to myself, that looks a little close to our city’s flag.
If you haven’t heard of “This American Life” you certainly owe it to yourself to get on iTunes and download at least one podcast to hear something very thought provoking and quite poignant. The TV show is adapted quite well.
Just as (I think) that the title screen is an homage to our Fresno flag, I have always been wanting to create my own podcast akin to Ira Glass and his “This American Life.” I love to carry around a voice recorder to pick up interesting conversations to find more material. If you’d like to help me out with this endeavor, go ahead and send me an email right through here
This is why I love Fresno.
