Day 15
I am now a graduate of Fresno State University. I’m a proud alumnus of the university AND from the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band. I love that the band really is what makes the athletic program make it feel like a big-time school with the electricity they put out with their energy and volume of music. There’s a picture I have on my computer somewhere from a CD recording session with the marching band that had a decibel meter reading 112 with the marching band.
If you’re not sure how loud 112 decibels are I’ll help you. Everyday conversation with your friends are at around 60-70 dB, a train whistle at 500 feet is 90 dB, and a club or concert is at 115 dB. Yeah, the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band is that loud. Now a video.
Here is a trip to UCLA back in 2008 documenting an entire three day trip into a montage. As you can see, it’s just nonstop fun in the band. Also, you can spot me at :48-:49 leading the charge with my saxophone and again at 2:33 yelling “FRESNO!” This band is definitely something to be proud of in the Valley and in Fresno.
This is why I love Fresno.
